Streets across Arizona crumbling as shortage of funds stalls repairs
PHOENIX — From Wickenburg to Eagar, streets in cities and towns across Arizona are falling into disrepair because there's not enough money to keep them in shape.

Some cities are barely able to pay for routine maintenance, let alone build new roads to keep up with growth. Others, such as Eager, can't even afford to fill the cracks in streets.

1. Republican Belief System
If the people want the roads fixed let them do it, it's called self help and you can probably find a book at Border's that shows you how it's done.

6. Exactly right.
This is the equivalent of a meteor plunging toward earth at a quarter mile per year.

first commuting goes up, then food, then the infrastructure. And all the while, crimes of various sorts finds new opportunities.

Lost control of petroleum and other resources. Lost control of commerce.

5. Ohio looked like that in 1982.
The tax structure based on highly profitable manufacturing and pay just fell apart. We had to dodge holes in the freeway.

I think we are "over committed" and cannot keep up with our 21st century infrastructure demands.

10. It's a result of the Republican crusade to convince everyone
that "taxes are evil,"

And the Democrats fear of standing up to them.

11. What is pathetic is that conservatives concede that transportation spending repays itself ...
... It is a worthy use of "taxpayers dollars". Republicans are so stupid that I know their idealogy better than them.
