Pope Says Young People Inheriting Scarred, Squandered Planet - ENN
No shit.

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict on Thursday told a huge gathering of young people that they were inheriting a planet whose resources had been scarred and squandered to fuel insatiable consumption.

His latest appeal to save the planet for future generations came in a address to some 150,000 youths in Sydney after he rode through the city's harbor standing on the outdoor deck of a white ferry as dozens of boats blew their horns.

"Reluctantly we come to acknowledge that there are also scars which mark the surface of our earth, erosion, deforestation, the squandering of the world's mineral and ocean resources in order to fuel an insatiable consumption," he told the cheering crowd.

EDIT

He told the young people, some of whom had come from island nations threatened by rising sea levels or drought-hit nations such as Australia, that protecting the environment was "of vital importance to humanity".

1. His immediate predecessor, John Paul II, warned that western materialism
was as dangerous as eastern communism, something the MSM did not widely report.

6. Word
And he and the others have helped this process along by supporting the people doing the destroying to increase their power.

And now he's trying to do it again by switching sides and picking up new converts.

4. I really liked his "cult of the individual" line!
Too many Catholics don't realize that Catholicism and Objective-ism/Libertarianism are mutually exclusive, you can't believe in the "Sermon on the Mount" and Ayn Rand at the same time.

7. Since the "scarring and squandering" are caused by too many people, his pseudo-concern about the
damage is the epitome of hypocrisy.

He is in a position to do more about solving the problem than any other living person, but instead he just burns more fossil fuel flying about the planet making sad mouths instead of approving contraceptives, which would actually help solve the problem.

9. wow.
This is amazing, I thought it was the role of religious people to encourage our Earth domination, since the end is near and we'll be saved soon and stuff like that :p

I pity the young kids I see and feel total disrespect for their parents, it's a terrible future they're giving them. Of course Americans will be kept fat and happy a while longer but anyone with a heart will know that it's our race driving out the rest.
