From Ford's Regional Manager - "Dear Business Owner' |
|
I guess I wound up on their mailing list because a) I own a Ford, and b) I've filed as a sole proprietorship in the past.
Anyway, this rather disgusting pitch concerned the "Accelerated Small Business Tax Deductions for large Trucks and SUVs".
I sure am glad that a humble technical communicator like yours truly--unlikely to haul anything larger than a laptop--can get up to a $43,630 first-year tax deduction by purchasing an F-350 SD Crewcab. Or, heck, it doesn't have to be anything that outrageous. I can get myself a plain ol' F150 "Heritage Edition" (Confederate Flag? hmm) and still help myself to a $26,565 first year tax write off.
Yeah, I knew about this already, but for some reason I thought maybe the dealer networks would have the class not to be quite so brazen about marketing this instance of government-sponsored enviromental rape. Silly me.

1. Sooooo if we all start using tens of gallons of gasoline to transport |
|
things that weigh less than an aardvark.... we could justify invading and making war on several other oil rich nations cuz we certainly will need the extra fuel.... oh and I just LOVE the obscene commercial where the mother asks the kids if it is ok for her to drive them up to the school door...
she is afraid the kids might get hassled or bullied if "mommy" drops them too near the door.... but oh don't you know it... cuz mommy is driving a gas guzzling Hummer just to get the kids to school... all the tough kids are impressed and everyone lives happily unbullied ever after.... sick sick sick sick these people should be ashamed of this commercial... truly ashamed.

2. Well, Hummer is GM, not Ford |
|
but otherwise yeah, I hear ya. Utterly disgusting ad, but in keeping with the truck-porn we see from the GM, Ford, Kreissler, Toyota and Nissan as well.
BTW, don't you find it curious that the same people who were so outraged about Clinton getting a BJ in the oval office, lust after vehicles called "Hummers?"

3. That ad was ridiculous. In real life, that kid would be picked |
|
on mercilessly, for showing up at the door in a luxury SUV. For damn sure, nobody would be suddenly impressed by how cool he was.
