Judge throws out plan to allow more than 500 snowmobiles a day in Yellowstone!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26721943/

WASHINGTON - A federal judge on Monday threw out plans to allow more than 500 snowmobiles a day into Yellowstone National Park, saying that many snowmobiles would increase air pollution, disturb wildlife and cause too much noise in the nation's first national park.

"According to NPS's own data, the (plan) will increase air pollution, exceed the use levels recommended by NPS biologists to protect wildlife, and cause major adverse impacts to the natural soundscape in Yellowstone," U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan said in an order Monday.

Good news for the wildlife of Yellowstone!

3. Great news! If these people want recreation of that sort, they can
have it somewhere else that isn't set aside to remain pristine.

6. Better news

would be allowing none. If you've ever walked or cross country skied in the wilderness, you know how revolting snowmobiles are. Talk about disturbing the peace! In most cases the drivers are rude brutes. Hey, that sounds like Todd.

7. Yellowstone National Playground
Selfish pigs that just think the park can just be used, abused and raped like the rest of the environment.

8. As much as I would like to ride around Yellowstone in the winter
I am glad to see this.

Preserving the park is much more important than my riding around on a loud, destructive machine.

10. Please get a Clue!
Wow!! It’s obvious that none of you folks have ever been to Yellowstone or know a thing about the current rules surrounding the use of snowmobiles there.

12. Once again, our Judiciary, compromised and Bushified as it is...
...STILL wins first prize (by a fairly wide margin, IMHO) for the Old American Instsitution that has withstood the repeated storm-blasts of Bushie-Nazi Tyranny the best.

Which, relatively speaking, rates them only a grade of 'C minus' at best, considering the inroads Bushie Tyranny has made.

OTOH, Congress' grade is F. The media's grade is F. So a C looks pretty awesome compared to such disgraceful "competition".

13. If we raised the gasoline tax by *a lot* to encorage efficent motoring,...
...it would price many of the fumers and the outfitters out of business.

Boaters with big motor-yachts are staying at the dock this year in Lorain harbor because of gas prices. Snowmobiles are not as fuel-consuming, but we could cut into their profits. They have to trailer the snowmobiles to location in a big towing truck, too. It all adds up!
