About 274,000 without power, 84 Ohio counties reported damage from high winds

wouldn't dare suggest it's.... climate change?

I'm all the way up in Vermont and we had very strong winds. Power went out for a couple hours and I was the only one in my neigborhood with lights on and computer typing away (thanks to good old solar power!).

5. To be fair, the Agnes track in your maps
shows that it went back out over water (regaining strength) before making another landfall.

Ike's "problem" is that it got snagged by a fast moving Canadian low, and dragged into the middle of the continent before it had a chance to "rain itself out"... which is probably fortunate for the people of North Texas and Arkansas, but bad for folks in Ohio and Canada.

Global Warming? Probably not. But then these things would be really hard to figure out, right?

8. Agnes was bad on Pennsylvania, it came through twice.
First as a Tropical Storm (Or maybe Depression) East to West, then it stopped and became part of a Front, West to East. Agnes dropped a lot of water on PA between the two sweeps through the state.

More on Agnes (Both Ohio and PA):

9. Climate change is only measurable statistically.
With a single storm, you might say "that's a 100-year storm" or "that's a 500 year storm," etc.
