Pickens says Wal-Mart to study switch from diesel
http://www.reuters.com/article/environmentNews/idUSN1731421820080918

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Texas oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens said on Wednesday he has convinced the head of Wal-Mart Stores Inc to study the possibility of switching the fuel used for the retailer's huge fleet of delivery trucks to compressed natural gas, from diesel.

Wal-Mart officials confirmed that Pickens was a guest speaker at a monthly associates meeting September 13 in Bentonville, Arkansas, with chief executive Lee Scott and thousands of Wal-Mart employees.

According to a weekly e-mailed update promoting wind power and the use of natural gas for transportation as a way to pare U.S. reliance on imported crude, Pickens said Scott was "impressed by the Pickens Plan."

Told that Wal-Mart, the world biggest retailer, currently operates 8,500 trucks, Pickens said Scott then asked an executive to study what would be involved in replacing the diesel fleet with trucks that run on natural gas.

2. Amazing what will happen when people put their $$
where their mouth is. Pickens gets respect from Businesses since he is putting up along with his talk. It also helps that he has a tangible plan.

Imagine for a minute that Wal-mart converted it's fleet to CNG..... They would likely put a CNG refueling station at every one of their gas stations. That would be huge. Let's hope the study yeilds a big benfit to move to CNG.

3. Without getting too deep into the analysis, ask yourself one question
How heavily invested in CNG is Mr. Pickens? I've seen many discussions since T. Boone decided to go green. Everything I read about his proposals for supporting sustainable energy were tied to tax breaks and incentives for CNG. Pickens is no less a self-serving greedy bastard than those creeps on Wall Street that want the taxpayers to pay for there long shot deals that now turn out to be ultimate losers. Greedy bastards will always try and sell an idea if it feathers their own bed.

4. Here is what he has...
Go look up BP capital.. you can see what all their holdings are. Pickens is almost nearly all investments.

Pickens has 2-3 Billion in personal net worth.. he is 80 years old... do you think that he needs more money. The dude is on borrowed time as it is.

Also so what if he makes more money if it is the right thing to do. It's like Pickens himself says. If you have a better plan they gets us there quicker let him know. He will be happy to run with it. Now contrast his plan with anyone from the left or right. PRetty easy to see who has their crap together.
