Here's what we did yesterday
http://registerguard.com/csp/cms/sites/web/news/1868750-35/story.csp

It took a little less than three hours and roughly six trips back and forth Saturday for April DeLaurier to move from her apartment on West 11th Avenue to her newly purchased house on Adams Street.

And she did it without a car, truck or motorized vehicle of any kind.

All of her belongings, including her cat, Thomas, were transported using bicycles.

DeLaurier’s friends and fellow members of GEARs cycling group moved her possessions using only bicycles, some with carts and trailers.

At one point, the group stopped to count the number of bikes in DeLaurier’s yard before they hauled their next load. There were 12, but Paul Adkins said 15 was a more accurate number, as some people had come and gone.

3. Transporting stuff is very difficult in the bicycle life.
Particularly difficult is grocery shopping.

When I was living "bicycle only" - I tended to use a backpack - but I always ended up buying a little more than I could actually stuff into the thing. I learned to ride carrying stuff under my arms or by wrapping bags around the handlebars and holding them with my fingers.

This is why the rickshaw type three wheelers will probably becoming more popular in the post-gasoline world.

China was a bicycle country before the highly questionable attempt to "westernize" their transport system. I saw a lot of those bicycle based freight transport systems in Bicycling magazine back in the day.

In the 1970's Bicycling was very active in promoting the bicycle culture and had many articles on China.

We lost that one.
