EPA investigator says Justice Dept put kibosh on British Petroleum Crime Probe
FORMER TOP EPA CRIMINAL INVESTIGATOR SAYS JUSTICE DEPARTMENT PUT KIBOSH ON BP CRIMINAL PROBE
WASHINGTON, D.C., NOVEMBER 3, 2008

It should have been a felony case.

But it ended up a misdemeanor.

That’s the take of Scott West, a former top Environmental Protection Agency criminal investigator based in Seattle.

West was investigating a March 2006 BP oil spill in Alaska.

A ruptured pipeline spilled 200,000 gallons of crude oil onto the North Slope.

It was the second largest oil spill in Alaska next to the Exxon Valdez spill.

West told KING 5 TV News this morning that he met with BP engineers and employees who said they had continually warned their superiors a long section of the pipe was deteriorating and at risk of rupturing.

West says that a federal task force was looking at possible felony crimes at high levels within the BP corporate structure.

Then suddenly, West and his investigators were called to Anchorage for an unforeseeable announcement from the Justice Department.

On November 3rd, Seattle KING 5 television broke the story that Scott has been wanting to tell for some time. It goes back a couple of years ago to March, 2006 when a British Petroleum pipeline ruptured and poured tens of thousands of gallons of crude oil all over the Alaskan tundra. It was the biggest Alaskan oil spill since the Exxon-Valdez.
