New York Power Authority Requests Information for Purchases of Solar Power (for MTA)
http://www.solarbuzz.com/News/NewsNAPR1297.htm

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) has issued a formal Request for Information (RFI) in connection with its plans to purchase solar power on behalf of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and its operating agencies.

The MTA is one of the Power Authority’s governmental customers in New York City and Westchester County.

The RFI is intended to obtain information from the solar power industry in order to prepare a Request for Proposals with the appropriate terms, conditions and other information to bring about high-quality proposals from capable solar developers. NYPA intends to seek 6 megawatts of solar power from the installation of solar photovoltaic panels, or arrays, on the roofs of designated facilities of the MTA’s regional transportation network.

The initial sites selected for a portion of the installations are at locations operated by the New York City Transit’s Department of Buses, Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road. The new generating capacity will be accomplished in multiple phases, with 2 megawatts added during each of the next three years.
