Who will be the next Shrub disaster to head the EPA?
With all the focus on the Kerik withdrawal, there remains an appointment to the EPA. I noticed in this article regarding Levitt moving from EPA to HHS, that they suggested some possible candidates for EPA (LINK).
Here's the possibilities according to AP.

From Article: Potential successors to Leavitt at EPA include Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne, who was a leading candidate before Leavitt's appointment; Douglas H. Benevento, executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Health (news - web sites) and Environment; David Struhs, head of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection under Gov. Jeb Bush, and a brother-in-law to Bush's chief of staff, Andrew Card, and Barry McBee, former chairman of the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission.

Being from Florida, I can say the Struhs would probably be worse than Levitt. He's the best friend that developers could have in this state. He replaced scientists at our DEP with developers. He's led Jebbie's push to dismantle many of our environmental protections. He's led Jebbie's push to water down the everglades restoration project. He tried to let TECO (large FL utility), which was under investigation by the EPA under the Clinton administration off the hook with a slap on the wrist. Man, I could go on for hours about this slime ball. What do y'all know about the rest of the potential candidates.

1. Struhs certainly sounds like the Toxic Texan's kind of environmentalist.
Any decent financial felonies or other corrupt criminality in his background to bolster his resume?

2. Well, there is this.
(LINK)

When he leaves his post next month, Struhs will become vice president for environmental affairs for International Paper, which owns a pulp mill in Pensacola that has benefited from Struhs' personal intervention in a pollution case.

If he was a Democrat, he would have been investigated by now. However, since he is a Repug in our Repug dominated state, he was able to get away with it.

4. That is exactly the sort of thing I was talking about.
This guy sounds well qualified by republican standards.

3. Does it really make any difference? Does it make any difference at all?
I know some of the regulars on this board are EPA scientists & staffers, and God bless y'all. You're tryin to do your jobs and do some science and maybe help improve the environment.

But as far as the top job goes, it'll just be the same old bullshit. We'll be relieved of having to hear about Leavitt's Latinate "En Libra" crap, but it'll be just another hack prepared to delay enforcement, disarm standards and destroy what's left of the environmental legal system.

Who cares who it is?
