Schmack, a German BioEnergy Co., Buys Out US Affiliate
Germany’s Schmack BioEnergy continues to position itself in the U.S., as its Ohio arm has bought out a co-located affiliate, Biogas Technologies Unlimited, LLC, a biogas upgrader. BTU’s Alan Johnson will head it as a Schmack division. Schmack has some 300 biogas facilities in Germany where there now is a definite trend, Johnson says, to upgrade to biomethane for sale via pipeline rather than burn on-site for electricity. Fleets and Fuels reports a sewage sludge-based biomethane facility is in the works for Columbus, Ohio.
