Biogas plant to get nearly $1 million from federal government
FLINT, Michigan -- It looks like the city's much-hyped biogas plant may have secured nearly $1 million in additional funding -- this time from the federal government.

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed an appropriations bill that includes a $951,500 earmark to help fund the project, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. Dale E. Kildee, D-Flint.

Swedish Biogas International has partnered with the city, state and Kettering University to open a biogas plant at the city of Flint's wastewater treatment plant in Flint Township.

The biogas will be used to heat the facility and partners hope to upgrade the biogas into biomethane to fuel municipal vehicles.

The $8 million to $10 million project already has secured $4 million in state grants and up to $3 million from Swedish government agencies.

1. Now if they could move on to pig farms...
North Carolina wouldn't need to import any energy!

2. Or the chicken plants
chickens make a lot of poop too you know and the runoff from their poop is destroying our streams, rivers and lakes. Chicken manure is a great garden fertlizer but I refuse to use it because of the harm it can also do.
