San Diego has been ranked the # 1 solar city in California and the nation
For those of you who live in San Diego, you can hang your hats on this. What is crazy is that the city of San Diego, with the exception of the States of New Jersey and California, generates more power than any state in the U.S.

With 43, 679 solar installations producing 44 megawatts of power, San Diego has been ranked number one in the state of California and in the nation for solar power, according to a new report by the Environment California Research & Policy Center, which is based in the state capital of Sacramento.

Long a hub for wireless and biotechnology companies, in recent years San Diego has been aggressively positioning itself as an emerging cleantech cluster (modeled after San Francisco, Boston, Portland etc.), spurred on by City Mayor Jerry Sanders' cleantech initiative, which has resulted in the formation of an industry association focused solely on attracting partnerships and encouraging collaboration, called CleanTECH San Diego.

3. I was just there. I didn't see even ONE, but maybe I missed something.
There are about 3 million people in San Diego County, a hell-hole of suburban sprawl.

The capacity utilization of solar PV systems is lucky if it approaches 20% (most systems produce much less).

The proper unit for energy is the joule and not the PEAK(!!!!!!!!!) watt.

Given these facts - and generously assuming that the solar PV systems in San Diego County actaully reach 20% - the big deal brazillion solar roofs in San Diego county are the equivalent of an 8 megawatt continuous power plant.

It follows that the average power output for San Diegans from the cool solar systems that were - according to anti-nukes - supposed to "save" us, actually amounts to about 2.7 watts per person.

Obviously there is NOT ONE computer in all of San Diego that is devoted to saying how wonderful solar energy is that can run on this much continuous power for very long.

It follows that the energy consumed hyping solar energy actually exceeds the energy it actually produces in San Diego.

4. Way to go, San Diego!
Don't stop now. Keep setting new ambitious goals and increasing solar energy production. You've definitely got enough sunshine for it!
