Behind the Furor Over a Climate Change Skeptic
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/25/science/earth/25epa.html?_r=1&hpw

WASHINGTON — Alan Carlin, a 72-year-old analyst and economist, had labored in obscurity in a little-known office at the Environmental Protection Agency since the Nixon administration.

In June, however, he became a sudden celebrity with the surfacing of a few e-mail messages that seemed to show that his contrarian views on global warming had been suppressed by his superiors because they were inconvenient to the Obama administration’s climate change policy. Conservative commentators and Congressional Republicans said he had been muzzled because he did not toe the liberal line.

<snip>

It is true that Dr. Carlin’s supervisor refused to accept his comments on a proposed E.P.A. finding, since adopted, that greenhouse gases endangered health and the environment, and that he did so in a dismissive way.

But the newly obtained documents show that Dr. Carlin’s highly skeptical views on global warming, which have been known for more than a decade within the small unit where he works, have been repeatedly challenged by scientists inside and outside the E.P.A.; that he holds a doctorate in economics, not in atmospheric science or climatology; that he has never been assigned to work on climate change; and that his comments on the endangerment finding were a product of rushed and at times shoddy scholarship, as he acknowledged Thursday in an interview.

2. Take action
I'm tired of these fringe conservatives thinking they can politicize the settled issue of climate change by acting like there's some tiny bit of science that contradicts the facts. Isn't there something that can be done to quite these people?

3. I'm sick of this shit
Accepting climate change is "toeing the liberal line"?

I'm tired of people trying to make this a right/left issue. The Pentagon has already realized that climate change is real and are adjusting their threat forecasts to deal with future political climate wars.

So is the Pentagon "liberal" now ?

4. Wow. That reminds me...
Just the other day an anti-nuke fundie was here on this website announcing that a Nobel Laureate in economics was convinced that "we have all the tools we need to solve climate change."

Walk in the park.

Piece of cake.

No problem.

Climate change? Easy to solve...

Don't be so melodramatic...

Just ask http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=115&topic_id=211474&mesg_id=211474">a fundie to explain it with a "Muhammad Yunus says..." assuming of course that no one named "Muhammad" is talking about um, naturally occurring elements in the periodic table like, um, say, uranium.

It makes me want to drive to the estate of a dumb fundie in my solar powered Tesla electric car for a dumb fundie dinner with Allen's Coffee brandy.

If any of the guests don't have a solar powered Tesla electric car, we can just condense their breath to make swell ethanol biofuel to drive them home.
