1. Ask for evidence, concrete evidence, they won't be able to provide it.
If there was any misconduct then Nature would have certainly reassessed the reports. What we have is essentially innuendo and disinformation (not to be confused with misinformation which is misreading information; they are explicitly and deliberately spreading information that is not true).

Gore has answering to do on climate
Posted by Letters Editor December 4th, 2009, 3:23 pm

I know little about the Rube Goldberg contraption we call climate, but I do, like you, know a little about human behavior and the lemming-like inclination of certain academic types to follow the grant trail. I construct the timeline as follows: Al Gore, bitterly disappointed at the loss of the presidency in 2000, rooting around for something to do while passing through bearded and sartorial earth tone phases, glommed onto the warming alarmist bandwagon.

Mr. Gore knows as little as I do about climate change, but he knows much more than me about manipulating the media and maximizing sky-is-falling folderol. With a Nobel prize on the mantel, an Oscar as a doorstop and a cushy job at an investment bank, I’d say the possibility that his success is based on junk science is the most inconvenient truth of all. As the globe’s leading climateer, Mr. Gore and the climatologists who have fudged the science and derided opposing voices must now face the music.

What I see is standard RW propaganda talking points and a hack acting as a concern troll trying to spam a load of hooey on DU.

5. roseBudd is talking about the discussion she's involved in, not that quote:
Bitter clinger "warmistas" refuse to recognize that NOAA also fudged data. NASA/GISS were forced to correct their data. How many alleged "errors" will it take for the bitter clinger warmistas to halt their attempts at propagandizing? (Don't you like that title - "warmistas"?)

I think roseBudd is a progressive from Cincinnati and isn't prepared to refute the onslaught of paid denialist bloggers.

7. I am and this is one point I have not been able to find any info to refute, I attempt to always
have uninpeacable info before posting.

I found lots of skeptic links claiming NOAAs data is fudged. I coud really use some help on this thread from science brains. I am an arthead.

8. OK, so I had to dig about this bizarre claim, it's a new meme being pushed based on a misreading...
Edited on Sat Dec-05-09 09:05 PM by joshcryer
...of the NOAA website: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/ushcn/ushcn.html

NOAA explains how and why they do their adjustments, but what we have are deniers saying that these adjustments are manipulation, despite that they are based on empirical observation.

Indeed, the NOAA website illustrates how they manage their data by referencing papers that say why the data must be managed that way.

There is nothing nefarious with how the NOAA adjusts their data, as it is based on peer reviewed studies.

This is a relatively new meme so I had to actually read their garbage claims before I could figure out what orifice they were pulling it out of. Expect it to circulate for a little while until debunker sites like RealClimate and others decide to explain that the deniers are lying.

9. What you need to point out is that they've been doing these adjustements for years...
...and that if the adjustments were in question the peer review would have quickly caught it, so the claim is clearly bizarre and asinine.

Really, I don't have anything more to say, because this really is a new meme that is being pushed, and I doubt it has legs.
