CPS Executives delay releasing internal investigation

The nuclear fallout over CPS Energy and its multi-billion dollar bungle continues. After meeting for more than five hours behind closed doors, CPS executives refused to release the final investigation concerning the higher-than-projected costs of the nuclear power project.

The project came in $4 billion higher than was expected. CPS executives were aware of the higher cost, yet did not tell the board members or the mayor. The mayor was secretly tipped off, and the questions became why the mayor was tipped off and why the board was not told about the costs.

An internal investigation was conducted. The results were shown to the board members today. However, CPS executives say they decided to delay releasing the investigation to the public until Wednesday claiming they want a lawyer to look over it first.

1. I look forward to the inevitable leak of this report...
I can't see any way in the world that they will be able to justify their actions in a way that anyone will believe they aren't corrupt.

2. WHOOPS
I don't see what's so troubling about a 35% cost overrun on a nuclear power plant. That sounds like a bargain. I thought 50% was pretty much the industry standard.

3. The cost estimate has jumped every year.
And they haven't even started construction yet.
The industry standard for nuclear cost overruns is a lot higher than 50%.
CPS has been lying about this latest cost estimate in public hearings for a year.
