SwiftHackers who believe they have won a crucial battle in their decades-long, corporation-fueled propaganda effort to establish anthropogenic global warming as a hoax were dealt a serious blow today. In a preliminary report, the World Meteorological Organization concluded that 2009 was one of the 10 warmest years on record since instrumentally measured temperatures were first recorded in the 1850s. Moreover, the decade of the 2000s was warmer than the 1990s, which was warmer than the 1980s.
According to Michel Jarraud, the secretary general of the international weather agency who is pictured at left, 2009 will likely rank as the fifth warmest year on record. But this won't be fully certain until data from the last few weeks of the year are assessed. Jarraud spoke at a press conference at the climate conference in Copenhagen today.
