Frozen Antarctic Waves...Global warming hoax email

I got one today from a friend (to her defense, she does live in Okla, she knows not what she does LOL).....Heres the text from the email she sent and my response below provides a link to snopes to view the amazing pictures accompanying the email:

STRIPED ICEBERGS

Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions.

Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with melt water and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form.

When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a
green stripe.

Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.
These pictures are available because 2008 has been the coldest winter.

Water freezes the instant it comes in contact with the air.

The temperature of the water is already some degrees below freezing. Just look at how the wave froze in mid-air!!!

This email states: These pictures are available because 2008 has been the coldest winter. And …That's what it is like in Antarctica where it is the coldest weather in decades. However these pictures were taken in 2002 by Tony Travouillin…and caused by melting, not instantaneous freezing. These pictures have also made the email rounds and portrayed to say they were taken in Michigan when they had a cold snap……please don’t believe everything you read or hear until you check it out yourself. Please don’t be a minion by spreading untruths….Facts Do Matter and Snopes.com is fast, free and non partisan, it researches and finds the truth no matter which side it ends up on…

These pictures are awesome…it’s ashamed they have been hijacked by people who are stopping at nothing to try and say global warming is a hoax, it amazes me that people believe in science when it comes to medicine and technology (because it benefits them) but dismiss it when it comes to environmental issues and theology, as that does not benefit them because that would mean “oil and church” two of the biggest money making businesses would be at risk.

You did well - you didn't ram her misinformation down her throat or call her a bad name. You kept your calm, which is great. Congrats!

3. this is not the first time

I exposed her emails as false, however, the other times she acknowledged her ignorance and sent out mass disclaimers, however, this time there was nothing. I think it is because I called out religion. Oh well, maybe she will take me off her email list.

I'm new here and finding my way, so I really do appreciate the positive feedback.
