Insulation from Mushrooms?
I apologize if this company has already been posted about in the past. But there product is too cool not to share. Ecovative Design has developed completely clean and sustainable building insulation, Greensulate.

Ecovative Design, based in Green Island, New York, takes agricultural byproducts like rice hulls, buckwheat hulls, or cotton gin trash and uses them in a special process to grow fungal mycelium, which is basically mushroom roots. After 5-10 days the roots transform into an all-natural rigid material when dry. The finished material has similar properties and cost to synthetic foams like Styrofoam, although it is much stronger.

While there are many eco-friendly loose fill insulations, rigid insulation is usually made from petrochemicals and emits carbon dioxide during production. But Greensulate is grown, not manufactured.

4. Unfortunately they seem to be decreasing
Love your recipe! Fresh young black morels sauteed and breaded with cracker crumbs and eggs, so sumptuous. Good to be alive!
