FENNER (AP) — Authorities are investigating the collapse of a 187-ton windmill in a Fenner cornfield where it once stood.

Marvin DeKing lives across Buyea Road in Fenner and says he heard a loud bang about 3 or 4 a.m. on Sunday.

He says it wasn’t until daylight that he learned that the more than 200-foot windmill across the road had fallen. No one was hurt.

The bold is mine. This statement, "no one was hurt" makes the flying shards of metal as deadly as the tritium that uneducated anti-nukes always cry about as they work tirelessly to destroy climate change gas free infrastructure like the largest single source of climate change gas free energy in Vermont, the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.

The difference of course, between Vermont Yankee and the sky junkyard of course, is that Vermont Yankee is reliable and that it has worked for 38 years and will only be destroyed by ignorance and fear.

No word yet on how many people will be killed by the dangerous fossil fuel waste from all the trucks driving around trying to replace the junk heap.

Like all anti-nuke hype types, your use of the word "violent" reflects only your own imagination.

It's not like I vandalized a billion dollar facility because I never opened a science book in my life. It's not like you're technically going to be able to comprehend, for instance, a thorex cycle, or a dupic cycle etc. You don't know anything about nuclear energy and your "understanding" of it - if you want to call it "understanding" consists wholly of a fantasy that someone somewhere some day may be injured by the storage of used nuclear fuel. But over the 50 year history of nuclear energy you can demonstrate the existence of no such person.

I strongly support nuclear energy because it is cleaner, safer, more sustainable than any other choice, including these unreliable grease sticks in the sky.

I don't think you can make the case that wind power is bad simply because of the occasional failure. I've had microwaves and refrigerators break too. Does this mean we should ban microwaves and refrigerators?

I have not met one glib hand waving dangerous fossil fuel apologist who understands a thing about the chemistry of nuclear fuel.

Many of them are pretty good at producing incoherent babbling however.

This piece of crap, which produced insignificant energy at huge expense is now garbage. It didn't even last 10 years.

A nuclear reactor is a highly complex device that requires an education to comprehend. I note that the biggest critics of nuclear energy - the one's who think that their electricity comes out of a wall socket and that any technology they can't buy at hardware store it isn't worth utilizing - are precisely the ones who are the least educated about the subject.

If one don't have a productive job, and if one not really smart enough to manage things like grammar, punctutation or capitalization, nuclear technology and nuclear science are clearly beyond one.

My opinion of the anti-nukes is that they all represent the members of the drinking class that used to make fart jokes during science classes to obscure the fact that they couldn't understand a word of what was being said in the front of the room.
