Three million dollar 187 Ton Wind Turbine Crashes From 200 Feet, Waking the Neighbor Across the....
Edited on Wed Mar-10-10 06:42 PM by NNadir
...Street. The guy who lives across the street - who probably hasn't slept a solid night since the grease sticks in the sky were installed - said there was a, um, "thud."

He's lucky he has a head, not that if he had been beheaded, "wind will save us" types would give a rat's ass.

One can never have enough poorly constructed unreliable and dangerous metal hovering over one's head, so they'll fork over another 3 million to replace the junkyard in the sky.

This should create "jobs! jobs! jobs!" since there are still 19 other ones waiting to fall down.

FENNER (AP) — Authorities are investigating the collapse of a 187-ton windmill in a Fenner cornfield where it once stood.

Marvin DeKing lives across Buyea Road in Fenner and says he heard a loud bang about 3 or 4 a.m. on Sunday.

He says it wasn’t until daylight that he learned that the more than 200-foot windmill across the road had fallen. No one was hurt.

The bold is mine. This statement, "no one was hurt" makes the flying shards of metal as deadly as the tritium that uneducated anti-nukes always cry about as they work tirelessly to destroy climate change gas free infrastructure like the largest single source of climate change gas free energy in Vermont, the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant.

The difference of course, between Vermont Yankee and the sky junkyard of course, is that Vermont Yankee is reliable and that it has worked for 38 years and will only be destroyed by ignorance and fear.

No word yet on how many people will be killed by the dangerous fossil fuel waste from all the trucks driving around trying to replace the junk heap.

1. Can we call this a "Wind Event"?

2. Not a wind power fan, I take it?
Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel...

3. I am, in fact, being quite restrained. Telling you how I really feel, given that this
tech is pushed by people who work tirelessly to destroy the world's largest, by far, source of climate change gas free energy, I might come across as, um, unpleasant and use some unsavory language.

The piece of trash didn't even last ten years.

4. He is violently opposed to ALL forms of power generation other than nuclear.
But he still won't talk about the radioactive waste disposal issue.

14. Actually, I have talked extensively on the use of used nuclear fuels.
I understand them perfectly, but it's over your head apparrently.

Like all anti-nuke hype types, your use of the word "violent" reflects only your own imagination.

It's not like I vandalized a billion dollar facility because I never opened a science book in my life. It's not like you're technically going to be able to comprehend, for instance, a thorex cycle, or a dupic cycle etc. You don't know anything about nuclear energy and your "understanding" of it - if you want to call it "understanding" consists wholly of a fantasy that someone somewhere some day may be injured by the storage of used nuclear fuel. But over the 50 year history of nuclear energy you can demonstrate the existence of no such person.

I strongly support nuclear energy because it is cleaner, safer, more sustainable than any other choice, including these unreliable grease sticks in the sky.

5. A catastrophic failure of a wind turbine
Resulted in someone losing a few minutes of sleep.

A catastrophic failure of a nuclear plant results in ______________.

9. Mechanical failures happen
I don't think you can make the case that wind power is bad simply because of the occasional failure. I've had microwaves and refrigerators break too. Does this mean we should ban microwaves and refrigerators?

10. Well I'll be, you don't say.
Surely you jest in calling this a grease stick. My o my what should we do now nnadir, run in circles with our hands above our heads screaming bloody murder? Oh wait no one was injured so should we just run around in circles anyway? Can I use my home made, (by little ole me) yard car to drive me around in circles as I don't run too good any more? And I am going our right now and pulling up all my solar lights, roots and all, lining the walkways and gonna go buy myself a small nuke reactor first thing in the morning, first thing I tells ya. I just want a little one as I don't use much 'lectricity anyway. The do sell them at the hardware store don't they??

Only a fool would equate the danger from this with nuclear waste

Remember you have work to do tomorrow so don't wear yourself out running around too much on this tonight, you hear. Boss'll be pissed if you come in in the morning all red eyed and frazzled you know.

11. I want one too!!
Gimme. I want my own nuke. I'll place it in the yard, like you, and compare the costs and benefits versus solar, wind, etc. Shouldn't cost too much, eh? I heard it's too cheap to meter!

13. Really? Only a "fool" would equate this with so called "nuclear waste?"

I have not met one glib hand waving dangerous fossil fuel apologist who understands a thing about the chemistry of nuclear fuel.

Many of them are pretty good at producing incoherent babbling however.

This piece of crap, which produced insignificant energy at huge expense is now garbage. It didn't even last 10 years.

A nuclear reactor is a highly complex device that requires an education to comprehend. I note that the biggest critics of nuclear energy - the one's who think that their electricity comes out of a wall socket and that any technology they can't buy at hardware store it isn't worth utilizing - are precisely the ones who are the least educated about the subject.

If one don't have a productive job, and if one not really smart enough to manage things like grammar, punctutation or capitalization, nuclear technology and nuclear science are clearly beyond one.

My opinion of the anti-nukes is that they all represent the members of the drinking class that used to make fart jokes during science classes to obscure the fact that they couldn't understand a word of what was being said in the front of the room.

Have a nice plastered evening.
