How likely is it we'll break 1998's global temperature record this year? |
|
I think it's pretty damn likely, considering Feb. was already the warmest Feb. on record, and March is shooting up too (based on graphs posted in previous threads by joshcryer).
And if this year does top 1998, what will the denier's new talking point be to explain it away?

3. It's about 15 degrees above normal in NYC |
|
and the next three days will be slighter warmer
So, yes, I see a real chance that we'll have a very hot summer

4. I give it better than even odds. Our spring lasted 48 hours. It's been nearly 90 |
|
the past couple of days. I just turned the heat off over the weekend, because until now it's been chilly.
Good thing I am not trying to grow my own veggies anymore. This climate is unworkable.

. . .
Although it still gets below freezing overnight up here
over 75 is not abnormal during the day now, shorts and t-shirts being more than comfortable during the day.
I live in Mattawa Ontario, approximately the same lat as Minneapolis, Minnesota
but we do have them lakes south of us, as where they are north/ north east of Minnesota
Although the lack of snow this winter was a blessing to those who shovel and plow,
The reduced moisture for the ground will play hell with the crops up here.
It's gonna be a long hot dry summer.
I expect a lot of brush fires
and not much water to fight them.
I lived through one forest fire in the early '90s
and fought one in 2005
one in 2005 was tiny, and easily contained,
BUT
it was one hell of a smack of reality
IF it had gotten away . . .
sumthing to ponder
