Record Heat In NE - NYC, Boston, DC All Hit New Record Highs - AFP
New York and the northeastern United States bathed in a record heat wave Wednesday, as East Coast residents finally put behind them weeks of bad weather including spring storms and deep winter snows.

New York saw temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2 degrees centigrade), pipping the 89 degrees (31.6 degrees centigrade) record for April 7 set back in 1929, the National Weather Service said.

Boston, Massachusetts, was also enjoying 90 degrees weather, easily besting a previous record for the day set in 1991, the weather service said.

Dulles international airport in Virginia, which serves the capital Washington, also saw the mercury soar to 91 (32.7 Celsius) degrees on Wednesday, just short of the record of 92 (33.3 Celsius).

7. Obviously it was GW in 1929
Any Freeper will be happy to point out that if 90F in NYC on April 7 is proof of Global Warming. Then it must have also been Global Warming for 89F in 1929.

A single data point does not tell us anything about the probability of it's occurrence or how that probability has changed over time. And climate deniers celebrate anytime someone foolishly posts such as some sort of supposed proof.

2. By contrast....
...here in North Texas we just experienced the 4th coldest winter on record, and we have yet to see ninety degrees. We had more snow last winter than we have had in decades. Last night it got down to 38 degrees, which is not necessarily abnormal for this time of year. I hope our cooler weather sticks around for a while!

3. We've had a fairly cool spring here in Phoenix, too.
And they can keep it coming as far as I'm concerned.

4. "Pipping" the record?
Never heard the word pip used in that way (I always associated it with Gladys Knight's backup group).
Don't they mean "topping" the record?

8. Meanwhile, each city is going back down into the thirties tonight
and the fifties tomorrow, which is normal. Sounds like we just got a good day to enjoy.
