http://www.1888pressrelease.com/rwe-dea-launches-production-in-danish-oil-field-nini-east-pr-189092.html">RWE Dea launches production in Danish oil field Nini East

February 27, 2010 - The oil reservoir is located at a depth of about 1,650 metres in the Hermod sandstone formation and contains a total of about 17 Mill. barrels of crude oil reserves. RWE Dea has a 30 per cent stake in the field and its production. DONG E&P (operator) has a 40 per cent share, partner Noreco has a 30 per cent stake.

The oil deposit is being produced from an unmanned platform that was installed at a water depth of 60 metres in 2009. The oil initially passes through two production wells to the Nini East platform, from where the oil is sent via Nini platform to the Siri platform, where it is processed and made ready for shipment.

“Following the successful launch of crude production from the Nini East field, we can now extend production in Denmark and prolong the lifetime of the Nini field,” explains Hugo Frik, Division Head of Production Europe at RWE Dea AG.

You will hear from dumb lightweight anti-nuke bloggers, of course, that Denmark is a leader in the fight against dangerous fossil fuel.

It's pure bull. The Danish energy policy is "Drill, Baby, Drill!" and if they had a plan for phasing out dangerous fossil fuels, they wouldn't be drilling dangerous fossil fuel mines off their coast, and dumping the waste of their production in their favorite waste dump, Earth's atmosphere.

The Danish wind fields are trivial forms of energy in Denmark, and do not produce as much energy as either gas nor as oil.

I heard from a lightweight blogger that Denmark is closing dangerous fossil fuel plant capacity, implying that they are not replacing it with more dangerous fossil fuel capacity. Needless to say, he produced no evidence of the same.

Recently the Danish firm DONG announced plans to build new coal plants in um, Scotland.

I'll save that one for another fun thread.
