Renewable Energy Boom: Ontario Invests CDN$9 Billion in Clean Energy Projects

Despite little regard for clean energy policy at the national level, things are still happening on the provincial level in Canada. Ontario just announced the largest private sector investment in clean energy in Canadian history:


The Ontario Power Authority is ramping up renewable energy projects on a massive scale.

The Canadian provincial government body just awarded 184 renewable energy contracts worth CDN$9 billion. This is the largest private sector investment in clean energy in Canadian history. Collectively, the projects are estimated to produce 2,500-megawatts of power, which is enough to power 600,000 homes in the province.

Even though most people consider the boom of construction, the fact is that a larger percentage of costs for renewable energy is dedicated to the labor portion of O&M than either fossil fuels or nuclear. There are going to be a lot of permanent, good paying positions.
