Happy Earth Day!

“In the end we will conserve only what we love.
We will love only what we understand.
We will understand only what we are taught.”
Baba Dioum

We have made great strides in the movement to save our planet for the other species
who deserve to be here just as much (if not more) than we do.
The question is, will we be able to do enough?

1. Rec. Thank you very much for all the work. Every Earth Day, I recall
Pat Buchanan on some TV program maybe 10 years ago being very nasty and cynical, and calling Earth Day
"the day when the hippies worship dirt."
Since I saw that, I have always hoped he would contract some lingering pollution related disease, and maybe someday he will.

But, again, thank you for this work.

3. I think of the cynicism and stupidity that I encounter
On other sites and I'm thankful to be a member of DU! I saw a great talk by a progressive economist today who explained well how the current problems present opportunities for successful change. I'm a little renewed in my hope that we can turn some of this bad stuff around thanks to Earth Day today!

Happy Earthday DU!
