BP calls blowout disaster ‘inconceivable,’ ‘unprecedented,’ and unforeseeable
Edited on Tue May-04-10 01:45 PM by wtmusic

Does the response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster sound um, reminiscent?

“I don’t think anybody foresaw the circumstance that we’re faced with now.” — BP spokesman Steve Rinehart
“I don’t think anybody could have predicted that these people would take an airplane and slam it into the World Trade Center, take another one and slam it into the Pentagon; that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile.” — Condoleezza Rice

“The sort of occurrence that we’ve seen on the Deepwater Horizon is clearly unprecedented.” — BP spokesman David Nicholas
“I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees. They did anticipate a serious storm. But these levees got breached. And as a result, much of New Orleans is flooded. And now we are having to deal with it and will.” — President George W. Bush

"BP did not build containment devices before disaster because it 'seemed inconceivable' the blowout preventer would fail." — BP spokesman Steve Rinehart
“I don’t think anybody anticipated the level of violence that we’ve encountered. I guess the other area that I look at, in terms of an area where I think we were faced with difficulties we didn’t anticipate was the devastation that 30 years of Saddam’s rule had wrought, if you will, on the psychology of the Iraqi people.” — Vice President Dick Cheney, 6/19/06

1. Bullshit.
RFK Jr. outlined the reasons for the lawsuit against BP,
and several show outright negligence and cutbacks.

4. What did they think would happen...
...when they methodically:

--Paid off our politicians with campaign contributions, then
--lobbied our politicians night and day for relaxed regulations on the oil industry
--enjoyed a deregulated, do-whatever-the-hell-you-please oil-industry for the past
several years?

Ya see, when you pay off corrupt, greedy politicians to take away all safety
regulations---you'll have (wait for it, wait for it) LESS SAFETY!

Make no mistake--these assholes knew exactly what would happen.

They just didn't care. Just like the banks that melted down our economy, the big pharmaceutical companies that sell us lethal drugs, the big agriprocessors that sell
us poisoned meat, and the health-insurance companies that kill us daily.

Such a compassionate, wonderful corporate-run country we have!

8. They are trying hard to cover their corporate asses to limit legal damages.
They are reputed to also call fake reports in to talk shows posing as BP workers that were on the rig.

They are scared to death of the legal ramifications if the truth gets out.
