Raceway officials met last week with Tunkhannock Twp. supervisors in Monroe County to iron out details for the 25-acre complex, which will house about 40,000 photovoltaic panels across the road from the Long Pond speedway.
"Everything went really well," track president Brandon Igdalsky said of the meeting. "Everybody walked out happy and on the same page."
The $15 million complex, which will be the world's largest solar-energy facility at a sports venue, is expected to be functioning before Pocono hosts its second NASCAR race this summer. The Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 is set for Aug. 1.
