Toxic Blue-Green Algae Warning Out For Fifth Nebraska Lake
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -- "The latest health alert for toxic blue-green algae includes Conestoga Lake. Water at the 230-acre lake, which is a few miles southwest of Lincoln in Lancaster County, exceeded safety levels for microcystin toxin, said the state Department of Environmental Quality.

Conestoga is the fifth lake to have health warnings posted so far this year. Twenty-six lakes were similarly affected last summer in Nebraska, as far west as Lake McConaughy and east as Carter Lake, which is half in Iowa, half in Nebraska -- just northeast of downtown Omaha.

Boating and fishing are permitted as long as people avoid summer fun that could lead to their swallowing water. People can still use the public areas for camping, picnics and other outdoor activities.

Pets and farm animals have died from drinking water containing toxin from blue-green algae. The toxins break down naturally in the water, often within a week or two after the blue-green algae bloom has subsided. However, algae blooms can recur."

dumb F*cks, there is BIG MONEY in collective Methane production..

a central site recieves and produces stores the methane, each farmer gets a percentage of the methane relative to their production..over the cost of the plant's operaton.. and runs pumps, trucks and and heats their chicken and pig barns with it in the winter..etc . the by-products like fertilizer is returned or traded to others for methane credits..
