MI: No gas concerns Memphis officials
Two gas stations in the city but no gas to be pumped has prompted Memphis Mayor Dan Weaver to explore strategies for getting a station open to serve residents.

"I've been spinning my wheels talking to people trying to get us a gas station in town," he said at a recent City Council meeting where he asked officials to consider options such as asking the city's attorney to advise on issues such as eminent domain.

The property could be encumbered by environmental issues such as contaminated land that stemmed from an underground storage tank that began leaking years ago.

"There are environmental problems there. According to a document in our tax records there may be a raw product plume going under the road and ... it's probably all the way across the street underground. That means that there could be gasoline in the soil and possibly ground water," Weaver said.
