Biofuel Debate Heats Up: European Commission Sued for Withholding Negative Data
Is there a more controversial renewable energy industry than biofuels?

The European Commission is being sued for failing to disclose all data regarding emissions produced by crop-based biofuels.

The lawsuit claims the Commission has withheld data which shows the negative consequences of burning fuel generated from wheat, palm oil, and corn. Studies from the Commission's Joint Research Center show that biofuel generated from these crops will release 1.092 billion tonnes of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere if 7% of Europe's traffic is burning such fuel.
