One of SBSP's Most Credible Names Joins Space Energy

Space Energy is elated to announce Professor Martin I. Hoffert has joined our Board of Technical Advisors.

Martin (Marty) Hoffert is Professor Emeritus of Physics and former Chair of the Department of Applied Science at New York University. His diverse academic background includes degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and Astronautics as well as work in Sociology and Economics. He is a member of the American Geophysical Union, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Mr. Hoffert is one of the most credible names in Space Based Solar Power and while his expertise is extensive, he has considerable proficiency regarding enhanced wireless energy transmission from satellites. Spending many years advocating research and development of solar power satellites as a way to provide Earth´s future energy, he gives significant contribution in solving the growing problem of fossil fuel induced climate change – a subject on which he is widely-considered a global authority.

As an experienced, prolific and respected author he has published much-cited articles at the highest level for 30 years. Prof. Hoffert's latest article entitled “Farewell to Fossil Fuels” was published in the September 2010 issue of the journal 'Science.' In 2002 he was the lead author of a widely-cited paper - the landmark article that concluded global warming was an energy technology problem, not a regulation problem - entitled "Advanced Technology Paths to Global Climate Stability: Energy for a Greenhouse Planet," in which Space Based Solar Power Satellites were cited as a future energy source capable of supplying massive amounts of carbon emission-free energy with the potential for large-scale commercialisation.
