Swiss official to submit nuke smuggling probe soon

GENEVA -- A Swiss investigating magistrate says he will submit the findings of his probe into an alleged nuclear smuggling ring to prosecutors before the end of the year.

Andreas Mueller says federal prosecutors will examine his report before deciding whether to bring charges against three Swiss engineers suspected of supplying a Pakistan-based black market network with nuclear weapons technology.

The six-year probe was slowed down by the fact that the Swiss government repeatedly ordered evidence destroyed, claiming it contained material sensitive to national security.

Zurich daily Blick reported Friday that copies of some of the shredded files have resurfaced and could form part of the case against Urs Tinner, his brother Marco and their father Friedrich.

1. The Tinners were part of AQ Khan's network, but appear to have also been

working with MI6 and CIA/CPD in an ill-fated sting operation to manufacture and sell uranium enrichment equipment around the world.

This is complicated, and was also tied in with Karl Rove and Jack Abramoff's selling face-time with Bush to the PM of Malaysia for several million dollars after 9/11, even though the PM's son was accused of being part of the AQ Khan network and some in the Malaysian gov't were chummy with al-Qaeda.

As for the intended recipient of the nuclear weapons
technology back in 2001, Libya in 2003 after the start
of the Iraq War decided it didn't want to be on the
USA's "hit list" and turned over all the materials of
its nuclear weapons program. Those materials are now
stored at the DOE's Y-12 National Defense Complex in
Oak Ridge:
