Concentrated solar photovoltaic systems manufacturer Amonix, Inc., has broken ground on its new 214,000 square foot factory in Nevada.

The company signed a lease for the site in North Las Vegas back in July, promising a facility that will create 278 green jobs by the end of the year (see this BrighterEnergy.org story).

Yesterday, it said the factory’s first line should begin manufacturing by the end of the first quarter 2011, and when up to full capacity the facility will allow 150 megawatts of production capacity a year operating 24 hours a day.

The company has begun hiring local workers to fill management, technical and production jobs, while 135 local construction workers will be involved in building the facility over the next few months.
