Lobbyists to Pelosi: world to end on Jan. 2
Edited on Sun Dec-19-10 02:43 PM by wtmusic
Not your garden-variety apocalypse or Y2.011K bug, we're talking about what will happen if EPA CO2 regs go into effect as scheduled. According to a letter written to Pelosi by the US Chamber of Commerce, regulating GHG gases will:

* Cause detrimental effects on America’s industrial facilities, power plants, hospitals, agricultural and commercial establishments
* Stifle job growth
* Burden state budgets already hampered by the slow revenue growth and increased costs
* Have real consequences on future job growth and industrial expansion
* Hamper construction and modifications for facilities in the United States
* Result in a virtual freeze on new construction of manufacturing facilities or energy efficiency modifications to existing facilities
* Harm not only our industries but those that are dependent on construction and the clean energy sector (Nice play...regulating CO2 is bad for the environment!)
* Serve as an additional barrier to investment

However, their attempt earlier this month to block the regulations in court was a bust. The judge's ruling read (in part):

With regard to each of the challenged rules, petitioners have not shown that the harms they allege are certain, rather than speculative, or that the alleged harms will directly result from the actions which the movants seek to enjoin.

The Deniers got their ass denied.

2. Seems like a pretty idiotic list. CO2 regs will somehow freeze energy
efficiency modifications? Wouldn't business be more inclined (not less) to do those kind of mods if they are worried about paying more for energy? I don't get it. Black is white?
