2 Dems join GOP fight to block EPA climate rules
By DINA CAPPIELLO, Associated Press

WASHINGTON – Two senior Democrats are joining a Republican effort in the House to block the Environmental Protection Agency from reducing the gases blamed for global warming.

Rep. Nick Rahall of West Virginia and Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota will sponsor a bill drafted by Republicans that bars the EPA from using federal law to control greenhouse gases from power plants, refineries and other industrial facilities. The legislation was being introduced Thursday in the House and Senate.

The bill is among a handful of measures introduced in the Republican-controlled House targeting the EPA and its efforts to control air and water pollution. None of the EPA's actions is as controversial as its rules on global warming, which Republicans and some Democrats say will raise energy costs and cause job losses in an already fragile economy. The Obama administration counters that controlling global warming pollution is necessary based on scientific evidence that it is threatening public health and the environment. The EPA also says the rules will ultimately yield more health and economic benefits than costs, much like many other Clean Air Act regulations.

While passage of some measure to hamstring the EPA in the House was all but assured by the Republican majority, the addition of two Democrats shows the momentum against the agency's global-warming regulations is growing.

7. Run 'em out of town (or at least out of office)
Absolutely right. Remember these puke-lovers at election time - or do a recall like the GOP WI state senators will soon be facing.

10. Good one
And why should they care? They have enough money to move anywhere else in the world that they want. Half of the congress are multi-millionaires. What the heck makes us think they are looking out for the poor and middle class' best interests?
