Tokyo - Experts in the north-eastern Japanese prefecture of Miyagi Sunday measured radiation levels 400 times above normal, the Kyodo News agency reported.

A spokesman of local electricity provider Tohuku said the reactors in the region were stable. Increased levels of radiation had been measured around the Onagawa power station, but it was believed that the radiation did not originate from that plant.

It is believed that the radiation blew in from Fukushima province, where two power plants suffered damage following the 8.9-magnitude quake that shook Japan on Friday and technical workers were trying to prevent a core meltdown.

1. Can they just say what's "normal" and what the readings are?
Instead of just "there's lots of radiation out there" ?

You know... tell people "this equals roughly getting two xrays a day" or "run for the iodine tablets!"
