Refresher course in plant names vs unit numbers and status of each.
Edited on Tue Mar-15-11 12:06 AM by snagglepuss
There are two Fukushima plants. Fukushima Daiichi is Fukushima 1 and Fukushima Daini is Fukushima 2.

Fukushima 2 has four reactors and they have all been confirmed to be shutdown and safe.

Fukushiama 1 or Fukushima Daiichi has 6 reactors. Only 1-3 where running when the earthquake hit.

Fukushima daiichi 1 was the first to start to melt down and had a hydrogen explosion on Saturday.
Fukushima daiichi 3 was the next to go boom via hydrogen and did so on Sunday. This is the reactor with the Mox fuel.
Fukushima daiichi 2 had some sort of explosion that damaged the outer containment just a few hours ago.
Fukushima daiichi 4 which was shut down at the time of the earthquake is having problems with its spent fuel pool, a fire that was put out and just a couple of minutes ago a hydrogen explosion.

All the reports of radioactivity you are seeing are coming from the daiichi plant.

NHK is reporting that anyone within 30km of daiichi to remain indoors.

1. "Ichi" translates to "one". "Ni" translates to "two". I can still cont to ten in Japanese after
45 years, lol. Who'd'a thunk?

3. Anyone wondering why...
We haven't seen any new images or video lately,
particularly of the explosion at Unit No.2 and the
fire and explosion at Unit No 4?

I've read reports and heard reports that Unit No 4.
not longer has walls or roof or something to that effect,
and I'm assuming something similar to No.1.

Can anyone reference pics or video? I mean, come on,
it's daytime in Japan now for many hours.

Is it just to unbelievable to show?

6. Possibly because it's not safe for camera operators to be in range...
...of all that radiation.

helpfully,
Bright

11. bad excuse

digitalglobe.com has no images from the 15th, I find that hard to believe.
there was a media blackout for at least 12 hours when No 4. was on fire
and video of the second explosion at No 3 has not been seen

these satellites, that operate well in daylight, were up and functioning on
the 15th... active thought control was in effect...

there are planes flying all around the area now with shots from 30km away
according NHK video and images... so...

was that helpful?

9. True this was simply to sort out the confusion between Fukushima 1 and
Fukushima 2.

however, there were some new reports of another earthquake coming to Japan -- !

It's a lot to think about, especially if these are older reactors --

And certainly pray the fates will not be this cruel -- !!
