Two of the 'Fukushima 50' missing in reactor as new fire breaks out

They are known as the "Fukushima 50" and two of them are missing after an explosion and fire at one of the reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant yesterday and a new fire there today.

<snip>

The workers, who were not identified, were in the turbine area of the No.4 reactor at the Daiichi plant, which has seen four reactor explosions since last Friday.

About 50 to 70 engineers remain at the site of the nuclear plant, after hundreds of other staff were evacuated.

Yesterday, Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan reportedly told the crew: "You are the only ones who can resolve the crisis. Retreat is unthinkable," the Financial Times said.

No. 4 is the one with the current fire

1. They are the true hero's here.
They may well be sacrificing their own lives to try and save their country. Bravery doesn't get more definitive than this..
