Snowfall in Somalia reported
The first snowfall on this part of the world has claimed one life and caused extensive damage to properties. Puntland, northeastern part of Somalia has never recorded snowfall before last night when snow storms with high winds destroyed homes in Rako town.

The storm left a blanket of snow on the ground, something residents had never seen in their lives before. Aside from this unexplained snowfall on this tropical land, Somalia has experienced very strange weather in the past few months.

Floods killed people and forced rivers to overflow banks in almost all parts of the country. Many cities from Hargeisa in the north to Baladweyn in central were affected badly by heavy rains and floods. Many people were killed and thousands of livestock washed away by this strange weather. The country is still struggling to recover from last month’s killer weather.

4. As I recall, the warning of the World Metereological Organization a few
years ago was more about climatic instablility than anything else.

I wonder if this will make the mainstream news. I hope it doesn't take attention away from Jen and Tom and Katie, or Brad and Angelina, or for that matter, that brain dead woman who just gave birth.

5. The Weather channel seems willing to utter the words "climate change".
or "global warming". I've seen them comment on numerous occasions that these hurricanes, or the droughts, etc, are consistent with global warming predictions.

6. Really? I never hear them say that, but maybe I'm missing something.
My six year old son's favorite show is "Storm Stories," and sometimes I watch it with him. I also watch during hurricanes. But I don't watch the Weather Channel as much as I used to.

My perception was that they scrupulously avoided issues of global climate change.

7. I've noticed them bring it up a few times in recent weeks.
Last night, they were doing a blurb about the upgraded hurricane forcast, and they talked about how this was predicted by global warming models. They were also careful to include a bit about how hurricane seasons rise and fall in cycles, and so it's impossible to say for sure, yada yada yada...

I think they are scrupulous about not coming out and saying anything as provocative as "there's no longer any reasonable doubt". But they bring it up, and they definitely don't ridicule it.

It's a big improvement over Fox news. Or our President.

10. If true, this is a good thing.
I've always questioned their scientific focus on the grounds that they scrupulously (it seemed to me) avoiding mentioning the most important weather feature of our times, the change in our energy flux.

Personally, I am terrified by the whole affair, but given the mythology surrounding it as pushed by our state controlled media (ie, all this blabber about "scientific doubt,"), I will take anything, however little, that raises the level of reality in the general public.

8. I've noticed it recently, also
the last month or two. Not on regular basis - it just slips in now and then.
