Los Angeles radiation plunges to new interday low
Graph of gross beta cpms obtained from the EPA's RadNet service, which monitors radiation levels in 118 US cities (10 bands of gamma show similar results).

I post this to counter apprehension. What we're getting so far is well below background levels.

10. It's statistical....
So the Japanese reactors are emitting anti-radiation!
============================

I hope you are being flippant...

The background radiation levels are statistical. They go up and down,
and fluctuate all the time. What this says, of course, is that the
amount of radioactivity that the USA is receiving from the Japanese
accident is within the statistical variation.

The radioactivity due to the Japanese accident is "in the noise".

Therefore, there is a small uptick due to the accident, but at a time
when the background is going down due to statistical variation, and the
statistical variation is "winning" because the uptick due to the accident
is so small.

3. Rained a little bit last night here, too. That probably helped.
Our family doctor sent an email around, detailing why she was not recommending potassium iodide at this time.

5. I recommend a tram ride to top of Mt. San Jacinto, or a flight to New York
To get your radiation levels back up.
