Insights from the Recent Steam Explosion Experiments in TROI

Test for RealcOrium Interaction (TORIM)

Some of the explosions were steam explosions. Probable caused by molten corium falling into the water filled lower portion of the reactor.

I don't think the cooling pumps will work on some of those reactors. There maybe some bad structural damage inside.

Test for Real cOrium Interaction (TORIM)

The reactor safety study identified the energetic interaction between the molten core material and water as a major risk among various phenomena of the severe accidents. It is a potential mechanism for the early failure of the reactor pressure vessel and containment.
