2. You know, I've been using these things for years now.
Lately I heard people bitching about how they take time to turn on, and then they take even more time to warm up to full brightness.

I've never had that problem before, until I recently had to replace a few of them. I have new, and old CFL's in my hallway, and the old ones come on instantly. What the hell did they change? The old ones are still 13w, so it's not like the suck more power or anything.

5. I'm going to start experimenting with a couple brands.
They are expensive though, so I've been holding off on trying them out. But yeah, the lack of mercury is a bonus.

Selfish self-interest but; I fish, so I like to see one less vector for mercury to get into our groundwater, streams, and out to sea.
