'Skunks of the insect world'
from the Lansing State Journal:

Local farmers are on the lookout for the latest invasive species that could spell trouble for summer crops.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development earlier this year confirmed that the brown marmorated stink bug - an unwelcome visitor from Asia that likely stowed away aboard a shipping vessel to enjoy America's fruit crops - has been found in four counties, including Ingham and Eaton. Officials say it's too early to tell how prevalent the pests are in both counties, but research shows they spread quickly.

Though it poses no real public health risks - other than a nasty stink if squashed or spooked - the real threat is to the state's $71.3 billion agricultural industry.

The stink bug has been known to eat through apples, peaches and many other crops throughout the U.S. ...........(more)

4. we have them now every year
In northern virginia. It started 3 of 4 years ago. From March to the Fall there's always 2 or 3 on the walls of the living room or den. I don't bother killing them, I let them climb around til one of the cats can get it. The bugs' smell doesn't bother me.

We're having a big termite treatment done today, I wonder if it will effect any other animals or bugs.
