Japan: Fukushima 50 criticise 'inconsistent' (radiation exposure) information
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/8468970/Japan-Fukushima-50-criticise-inconsistent-information.html

Workers at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant claim to have been risking their health to battle around the clock in order to regain control following severe damage caused by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

However, concerns have been raised over the fact that the Japanese government took a "special measure" to raise radiation exposure levels from the normal total of 100 millisieverts up to 250 millisieverts in order to deal with the current crisis.

There were further claims that some workers were not being required to register their radiation exposure, which they feared could create future issues if health problems arose.

"In the end, we are the workers who are exposed," one emergency worker told the Mainichi newspaper.

TEPCO - always the bottom line. These workers risk their lives and get treated like pawns.

yup

1. Question

Why isn't upper management being required to do a personal inspection of the damage? Why aren't they on site exposing themselves like their employees and contractors?

Oh, dumb question, they're upper management.

I worked middle management for a public utility. I was expected to be in attendance during outages and to assist the employees where ever I could in resolution of the problem.

3. Yesterday the President of TEPCO went to the refugee camps to apologize.
He spent the entire day on his knees asking forgiveness directly of the victims.

He was invited several times to prove his sincerity by moving into the evacuation center with the refugees, but he declined the invitations.

It was a sight you'd never see in the US, however, and I'm sure that it has real value as a reality check. I know it pleased me to no end to watch him grovel.

6. Yes, in the U.S
What you would see is someone getting arrested, rather than being allowed to engage in a meaningless ritual and then drifiting off to a well-paid semi-retirement. I live here, and just reading about it-forget seeing it-drove me into a rage. Saying your sorry isn't going to clean up this filth. I'm not interested in any f_cking apology-I am interested in two things:

1.) How are they going to get this thing under control?
2.) How long is it going to take?

How about the TEPCO president get up off his knees and go do something productive, like trying to solve this mess rather than hiding out and avoiding the press by faking a breakdown?
