Prof. Chris Busby believes No. 3 reactor had a nuclear explosion: RT News xpost

Professor Christopher Busby, the Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risks, believes that the Japanese have been very lax in the way they evacuated people from the exclusion zone. He thinks that the zone should be expanded to a 60-70km radius.

Busby thinks that if a sarcophagus is put over Fukushima-1, the nuclear fuel might go underground and get washed away by the sea. The US has already started picking up contaminated material with high concentrations of uranium and plutonium washed up on its coastline, he says.

Christopher Busby also thinks that TEPCO has concealed the fact that one of the explosions at Fukushima was not a gas blast, but a nuclear reaction.

“The nuclear industry has a history of duplicity and cover-up. I believe it probably was a nuclear explosion, not in the reactor, but in the tanks that contains the spent fuel. It seems almost certain now that there was some kind of nuclear explosion in the tank that contained the plutonium fuel rods. Anyone who saw that enormous explosion on the video would not have believed that it was a hydrogen explosion,” says Busby.

1. The second explosion was F'ed up. Half of the loading bay floor is gone

The contamination map you posted earler shows somthing bad happened. The designers knew of some of the possible failure modes. There are two known possible causes of a steam explosion on BWRs. A criticality event is one. The other would be molten corium falling into the lower half of the pressure vesel full of water.

2. So later we'll find out which it was of those 2
either one means there was a lot more blown out and more contamination than they're letting onto.

3. I'm speculating. It doesn't look good. You've seen the radiation maps of Fukushima.
Everybody saw how much more energy there was in the second explosion. Why??? At this point everybody is guessing.

Was there spent fuel in the equipment pool??? Was it thrown out of the spent fuel pool? Was there a criticality or courium event and the fuel was spat out the bottom and it popped the suppression pool??? Was it hydrogen and oxygen in the pressure vessel or dry well???

4. What about the spent fuel pool on top of No.3 ? I have never heard
anything about that spent fuel pool. It's a mystery.

MOX burns at a lower temperature than the other fuels.

However if anyone knows anything I bet Areva, the French
company that promotes MOX knows. They are over there
"advising"..

5. Chris Busby is a fucking idiot, then.
He's also not even taken seriously by other people who share his beliefs about low doses of radiation. He is a kook. And claiming a nuclear explosion by virtue of watching some video of something is both laughable on a Bill Frist diagnosing Terry Schiavo scale, but also scientifically impossible.

Nuclear explosions create electromagnetic pulses, EMPs. An EMP will crash any and all unshielded electronics within range, including those video cameras, making video footage of it impossible without specialized equipment.
