Well-rounded article on super-efficient homes.
This article was pretty well rounded. It covers a couple of econophiles, but also goes into items of interest to the the more casual homeowner.

Perfection in energy-efficiency, or anything close, requires a substantial investment of time, expertise and capital, all of which may be out of reach for most Americans. Still, a growing number are taking up the challenge of finding ways to get more out of less.

Businesses that may not have even existed a decade ago, offer huge selections of efficient products, are now a click away, at sites like 1000bulbs.com and affordable-solar.com.

Among the offerings now available are Superglass windows, LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs, solar-powered exhaust fans and soybean foam insulation.

1. This is a fair quote.
It's realistic in stating that there is a considerable cost, but also indicates that if you are well off, there is no excuse for not investing in efficient systems.

The ethical person who is well off besides contributing to the welfare of his or her fellow citizens would do well to contribute to these nascent industries by purchasing these highly efficient energy saving systems.
