Sungevity plans to hire 200 to 300 employees by year's end

Oakland-based Sungevity said Thursday that it plans to add hundreds of jobs this year.

"We are going through a very rapid growth phase right now," said John Ordona, a Sungevity spokesman.

Sungevity plans to hire 200 to 300 people this year, primarily in the Bay Area, Ordona said. The privately held company has about 200 employees, most at its headquarters in Oakland's Jack London Square.

To analysts, the expansion at Sungevity comes as no surprise. The company offers solar leasing programs to consumers who pay a monthly fee to cover the installation of rooftop energy systems.
