Construction ongoing at Japan's leading "smart" city

The core of one of Japan's largest environmentally friendly "smart" cities, under construction in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, will be completed in spring 2014.

...The project plans to tap geothermal, solar and other energy sources.

"We want to create similar urban development programs in other countries," said Hiromichi Iwasa, chairman and CEO of Mitsui Fudosan.
