Decades-old antinuclear newsletters reprinted

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Masako Sakata was not fully supportive when her mother, Shizuko, started distributing self-made, mimeographed newsletters to campaign against nuclear power on the streets of a town in Nagano Prefecture more than 30 years ago.

"I thought her doubts over nuclear power plant safety might have been fair, but I had more belief in comments by scientists saying that safety issues had been sufficiently examined," Masako Sakata said.

But prompted by the nuclear emergency at the Fukushima No. 1 power plant, she recently reread the newsletters, called "Please Listen," and realized that what her mother had feared until her death in 1998 at age 74 had actually come about.

1. newsletters reprinted
I'm up for a (non-paid) spot as a contributor to a small local online newsletter. My short weekly piece would be about easy entertaining.

2. What is happening in Japan now is what I've feared all along
First the accident then the lying. Its been that way since the dawn of the nuclear age and will continue until we bury them all. If the people knew the truth about the dangers of using nuclear energy they'd demand them shut down immediately, hence the news blackout on the catastrophe in Japan today.
In my 63 years I've learned one thing that stands out tall and bold and that is if they, whoever they are, will tell you a little lie they'll tell you a big lie if need be. Some people just like lying and I know those kind too but I'm talking about those who chose to tell a lie like the people who support nuclear energy. If you are a supporter of nuclear energy you are one of two types, one who knows not enough about the subject or one who will lie about what he knows about the subject. Theres not much middle ground.

Shut the sunsabitches down, all of them, let us worry with the consequences and then get out of the way as we build out alternates to coal and nuclear.
