RWE-Gazprom deal (less nuclear = more coal/gas)
Thursday’s deal between German utility RWE and Russia’s Gazprom to start talks for a gas and coal power joint venture is a direct consequence of Germany’s decision to phase out nuclear power, which is increasing the country’s need for alternative sources of electricity production.

It is also the first tangible sign that the German no-nuclear decision will raise Europe’s reliance on imported fuels, and, by definition, reduce the region’s energy security, as many experts have recently pointed out.
